Biography

Hugh’s family probably took its name from the hamlet of Aston near Leominster. He himself was undoubtedly related to the Leominster MPs, John II* and Walter Aston*; and it is possible that all three were connected in some way with the Herefordshire parliamentary representative of 1351, Sir Thomas Aston of Castle Frome.1 In 1384 Hugh and his wife conveyed a toft, 45 acres of arable land and two acres of meadow in Conhope, six miles from Leominster, to Robert Vykers of Aymestrey.2
