Biography
From 1370 Coudene acted as a feoffee of land at Wadhurst, Sussex, on behalf of Sir John Waleys† of Glynde. He served as a juror at a coroner’s inquest held at Mayfield in June 1377, and in the same capacity he provided evidence at the inquiries conducted at Horsham in 1395 and 1403, following the deaths of Sir Thomas Brewes* and Reynold, Lord Cobham of Sterborough, respectively. Up to March 1404 he was a trustee of land at Horsham belonging to William Rydelere I*. He is last recorded as witness to a deed at nearby Slinfold, in 1405.1
