Bailiff, Northampton Mich. 1422-3.

Biography

According to the borough records, this MP earned his living as a mercer, although nothing else is now known about his commercial activities. He was almost certainly related to Roger Maltman, who sat for Northampton in 1413, and who subsequently stood surety for his attendance at the Parliament of 1420. During his term as bailiff, William helped to hold the elections of 1422; and his attestation of the return is the last surviving piece of evidence to illuminate his career.
