Biography
Ringwood is an obscure figure whose activities remain largely undocumented. The alnage accounts for Northamptonshire reveal, however, that during the 1390s, if not before, he was active as a draper. Over the year ending November 1395, for example, he paid a subsidy of 1s.1½d. on three finished cloths; in 1396 his contribution fell to 2d., but it stood at 2s.3d. at the very end of the 14th century. We know nothing of him after November 1399, the date of his last recorded payment of the cloth subsidy.
