Biography

William came from a leading Plympton family and was perhaps a brother of John Selman I* of Newnham. He may well have been the man of this name who served in Brittany in 1375 in the retinue of Edward, Lord Despenser, for the latter’s contingent was mustered at Plympton prior to embarkation. But nothing more is known of him.
