Biography

The identity of this Member is uncertain, but he was probably one of the Brownes of Bodmin and Gwinear, Cornwall, and a relative of Thomas Browne, feodary of Cornwall in 1562, whose son Brutus represented Bodmin in the Parliament of 1586. Little is known of this branch of the family before the second half of Elizabeth’s reign.

Browne was named to the committee appointed 31 Oct. 1566 to consult with the Lords about the succession.
