Biography

Duckett, aged 14 at the death of his father, became a ward of the Crown. Under his father’s will he received £6 13s.4d. p.a. during his minority. He was lord of the manor of Calne and sat once for the borough. His name occurs only once in the journals, when he was ‘pulled out’ of the House to vote unwillingly for the church attendance bill, 12 Dec. He died in 1609, his will, dated 25 Nov. being proved 14 Dec. He bequeathed £6 13s.4d. to the poor of Calne, and left £200 apiece to his sisters Mary and Margaret, and £100 to his sister Jane. The executor was his brother and heir, John.
