Biography

This Member has been identified as Thomas Eyton of Eyton-on-the-Weald Moors, near Wellington, sheriff of Shropshire, January to November 1567, and j.p. from c.1547 to his death in January 1582. It seems unlikely. Both the de Tabley and Browne Willis lists give Eyton in second plae after William Lacon, a comparatively young man, and not the head of his family. There is in any case no reason why a county official should have waited until he was over 50 to make his first and only appearance at Westminster. The 1571 MP was probably
