Biography

Goldsborough was descended from the family of this name who lived at Goldsborough, Yorkshire. As MP for Cambridge he was paid 2s. a day, and was appointed to a committee on brewers, 3 Apr. He died at Little Shelford 9 May 1598. By his will, made 1 Aug. 1594, he bequeathed property for the maintenance of his widow and for the education of his children. His brother Godfrey, DD, who became bishop of Gloucester in 1598, received a gold ring, and ‘twenty of the poorest householders and cottagers dwelling in Little Shelford’ and the ‘poor almsfolk in almshouses in the parish of St. Edward, Cambridge’ were left 2s. each. His wife and his elder son Thomas, the executors, proved the will 29 June 1598.
