Biography

There were two William Gregorys of Nottingham, each with a father named John. The man who sat for Nottingham in 1601 and 1614 was, as appears from his will, the brother of the Mary Gregory who married William Greaves in 1575. Gregory became town clerk of Nottingham in 1597 but is not known to have held any other local office. It was a namesake who became an alderman, school warden and mayor of Nottingham, and who died in 1650. The MP made his will on 27 Dec. 1613, and died late in 1616.
