Biography

Rhys Lewis came from a junior branch of the important local family of Lewis of Gladestry, and was related to Ieuan Lewis. He was in England when his father made his will, 19 Dec. 1552. He is not to be confused with either Rhys Lewis, son of Ieuan Lewis, or with the ‘Rhys Lewis, late while he lived of New Radnor’, who made his nuncupative will in December 1605. This last was a son or nephew of the alderman.
