Biography

Little is known about Molyneux, a lawyer, who was returned for Liverpool after a contest through the influence of his father, crown lessee of the lordship. It is likely that the Mr. Molyneux referred to in the journals in October 1566 was John Molyneux I, in which case no parliamentary activity is known for the Liverpool man. He lost his room in the Middle Temple by discontinuance in 1573, was fined £5 for not acting as Autumn reader in 1575, and again for failing to read at Lent 1516. Like other members of his family, he was a Catholic, described as ‘very evil’ in 1591. His will has not been found and it is not known when he died.
