Biography
Like his father and others of his family, Rithe was a Lincoln’s Inn lawyer. His father and he sat together in the Parliament of 1584 for Haslemere, when he had probably already married Martha Harris and acquired some of her father’s property at Woodmansterne, near Croydon in Surrey. Haslemere is a long way from Woodmansterne, though in the same county, and the return of Rithe and his father was probably unconnected with Marlyon’s marriage, rather being due to Anthony Browne†, Viscount Montagu. Rithe was buried at Twickenham 30 May 1627, and was succeeded by his son, Christopher Rithe of Chipstead, Surrey.
