Biography

In 1713 Eden was returned for the county seat previously held by his father. On 31 Mar. 1714 he told against setting a date to hear the petition of the defeated Whig candidate in the Wallingford by-election, and on 1 May was appointed to prepare a bill for the endowment of poor vicarages. Both the Worsley list and a comparison of the 1713 and 1715 Parliaments listed Eden as a Tory, and his classification as a Whig in a further comparison of these Parliaments was probably an error. Upon his marriage in 1715 he was given Windlestone, and he remained in the House throughout George I’s reign. He died at Bath on 2 May 1728.3
