Biography

Trelawny was descended from Sir Jonathan Trelawny†, the father of the first Trelawny baronet. He was returned for West Looe in 1690 on the interest of his second cousins, the Trelawnys of Trelawne, he being a contemporary of Bishop Trelawny. Trelawny was classed as a Tory and Court supporter by Lord Carmarthen (Sir Thomas Osborne†) in March. In December he was listed as likely to support Carmarthen in case of an attack on his ministerial position by the Commons. In April 1691 Robert Harley* classed him as a Court supporter. He was not an active Member, receiving leave of absence for a month on 16 Feb. 1692, again for a week on 4 Dec. 1693, and again on 10 Apr. 1694. He was dropped at the 1695 election and died in 1705, being buried at Menheniot, near Liskeard. Coldrenick passed first to his brother John, fort major at Plymouth, then through another brother, Edward, dean of Exeter, to Darell Trelawny†.3
