Biography

Berkeley, whose family had one of the greatest landed interests in Gloucestershire, served under Marlborough in Flanders. He was returned unopposed for the county as a Whig following the death of Thomas Stephens, and, re-elected after a contest in 1722, he was unopposed in 1727. All his recorded votes were for the Government. He died 23 May 1736.
