Biography
Valens Comyn was probably related to Robert Comyn (d.1726), archdeacon of Salop, whose 4th son Stephen (d.1773) of the Inner Temple was father of Robert Valens Comyn (d.1799), also of the Inner Temple.1 Having achieved considerable success as a backer of privateering ventures between 1745 and 1747,2 he was returned for Hindon in 1747 as a government supporter, no doubt on the interest of Sir Henry Calthorpe, whose near neighbour he was in Hampshire. He died 27 Apr. 1751.
