Biography
Hardres, a Tory and a member of the October Club, was returned for his native city of Canterbury. From 1715 he voted against the Government, except on the peerage bill, which he unexpectedly supported, receiving through Sunderland £580 from the King’s bounty in 1720-1.2 His name was sent to the Pretender in 1721 as a probable supporter in the event of a rising.3 Retiring in 1722, he died 14 Jan. 1758.
