Biography

George Harrison, who succeeded his brother at Hertford in 1727, did not stand in 1734, but was returned for it without a contest from 1741 till his death, voting with the Administration in every recorded division. Though a wealthy man - the 2nd Lord Egmont in his electoral survey c.1749-50 refers to him as one of the ‘money jobbers’ and as a representative of the ‘monied interest’ - he had a secret service pension of £500 p.a.1 He died 2 Dec. 1759.
