Biography

The head of an ancient Lancashire family, with an income of ‘near £2,000 per annum’,1 Hesketh was returned for Preston in 1722 in succession to, and with the support of, Henry Fleetwood. ‘Very much a Tory’,2 he was a member of the local Jacobite club.3 He did not stand again, dying 18 Apr. 1735.
