Biography
Inge’s great-grandfather married the heiress of a London alderman, who bought Thorpe Constantine in 1631. Returned unopposed as a Tory for the neighbouring borough of Tamworth in 1715, he voted against the Government. In 1721 his name was sent to the Pretender in a list of probable supporters in the event of a Jacobite rising. He did not stand again. Said to have been ‘a considerable scholar and an industrious antiquary’,1 he died in 1731 (buried 3 July).
