Biography

Robert Jones was the grandson of Col. Philip Jones, M.P., a member of Cromwell’s ‘other House’ and comptroller of his household. His aunt, the widow of his father’s elder brother, Sir John Jones of Fonmon, married the notorious Judge Jeffreys.1 A Tory under Queen Anne, Jones was again returned for Glamorgan as a Tory in 1715. He died 19 Dec. 1715.
