Biography

Maynard had an estate in the vicinity of Eye which he represented as a Whig under Queen Anne. In 1715 he was returned for West Looe, voting with the Administration in all recorded divisions. Appointed commissioner for stores in Minorca in 1717, he did not stand in 1722, and a year later he was given a place in the customs, which he retained till 1730. He died 8 Sept. 1742, leaving his estates to his cousin Charles, 1st Viscount Maynard.1
