Biography

Mayo, whose family had for several generations been prominent in local politics, owed his return to a revolt by the local gentry against the domination of Lord Chandos and the Foleys.2 Described as the ‘creature’ of Lord Coningsby, to whom he owed his appointment as a j.p.,3 he died 14 Mar. 1723.
