Biography
Descended from an old Warwickshire family, Shirley, on his father’s death in December 1717, inherited Ettington, Warwickshire, as well as part of his father’s Irish estates.1 Returned for Stamford in 1727 on the interest of Lord Exeter (Brownlow Cecil), he voted against the Administration in every recorded division, did not stand again, and died 12 July 1738, leaving his Irish property to his sister.2
