b. ?1741, 1st s. of Rev. Henry Gally (of Huguenot descent), rector of St. Giles-in-the-Fields, London by Elizabeth, da. of Isaac Knight of Langold Park, sis. and h. of Ralph Knight (d. 1768). educ. Eton 1753-7; Trinity Hall, Camb. 1757; L. Inn 1756, called 1765. unm. suc. fa. 1769. Took add. name of Knight on succeeding to the Langold estate.

Biography
Henry Gally and Ralph Knight were connected with the 1st Duke of Newcastle in Nottinghamshire affairs, and John Gally Knight seems to have had a similar connexion with the 2nd Duke, who brought him into Parliament for Aldborough. Knight supported Pitt’s Administration. There is no record before 1790 of his having spoken in the House.
He died 20 Oct. 1804, aged 63.
