Biography

At the general election of 1768 Hobart considered standing for Exeter, where his brother had some interest, and for Norfolk, but soon withdrew. He does not appear to have made any other attempt until 1784, when he unsuccessfully contested Norwich. In 1786 he was returned for Norwich as an Administration supporter, was unseated on petition the following year, and returned once more at the ensuing by-election. In Parliament he supported Pitt. His only reported speech during this Parliament was on the wool bill, 1 May 1788, upholding the position of the Norwich manufacturers.

He died 10 May 1799.
