b. 24 July 1755, 1st s. of Sir Thomas Parkyns, 3rd Bt., of Bunny Park, Notts., by his gt.-niece (of the half-blood) Jane, da. of Thomas Parkyns of Wimeswould, Leics.  educ. Queens’, Camb. 1773.  m. 16 Dec. 1783, Elizabeth Anne, da. of William James, 9 ch., of whom at her d. in 1797 1s. and 5da. were living.1  cr. Baron Rancliffe [I] 3 Oct. 1795.

Biography

A friend of the Prince of Wales and connected with the leaders of Opposition, Parkyns carried his election at Stockbridge against the Government; and voted against them in the House. In the Parliament of 1784-90 he is not known to have spoken, and he had no prominent part in the Opposition counsels.

He died v.p. 17 Nov. 1800.
