Biography

Sotheron sat for Pontefract in two Parliaments on the householder interest. He voted with Pitt on the Regency, 1788-9, and presumably continued to do so, though no votes or speeches of his are known after 1790. He was listed ‘doubtful’ on the question of repeal of the Test Act in Scotland in 1791. He did not stand for re-election in 1796. He died 31 Jan. 1806, aged 51.
