Wild was a Worcester lawyer who inherited from his father, a clothier, a small estate in the city. He had also the prospect of inheriting from his mother the manor of Impney, Worcestershire, and salt-pans and other property in Droitwich. He acquired property in Droitwich on his own behalf and obtained the wardship of his cousin John Buck, which gave him control of further property there. His return to Parliament for the borough to two Elizabethan parliaments left no trace on the surviving records. Though he may have supported his brother Robert’s attempt, in 1574, to exempt Worcester from the jurisdiction of the council in the marches, he was chosen to fill a vacancy in 1602 when the council was being replenished after the death of the 2nd Earl of Pembroke. Wild died 27 Mar. 1616, being buried in the church at Droitwich, where an elaborate monument survives. In his nuncupative will, he assured his wife’s jointure and the inheritance of his younger son. The rest of his lands he left to his heir with the words, ‘let him take all and pay all’. Wild’s own religious views are uncertain. His daughter married into the Catholic Blount family.
